By definition, a cabochon is a gem or bead cut in convex form and highly polished but not faceted. In the world of beading, anything that has a flat back with no hole is usually referred to as a cabochon or "cab" as it is commonly called. Cabochons are available in a wide range of materials including glass, wood, ceramic or porcelain, wood, and recently more popular resin.
